A co-owner of The Eye Center, Okmulgee and South Tulsa locations. Dr. Ward was raised in a small farming community in southwest Oklahoma. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Southwestern State University and then graduated from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in 1993. Upon graduation, he joined The Eldridge Eye Clinic, in Okmulgee as a partner. In 1999 Dr. Ward and Hall purchased Eldridge Eye Clinic and it was renamed The Eye Center, Okmulgee in 2001.
Dr. Ward specializes in ocular disease with a wide range of technical training and experience. He is certified in and routinely performs anterior segment laser procedures, YAG laser procedures, glaucoma-related laser treatments, and minor in-office surgical procedures. In addition to his 23 years of clinical experience, Dr. Ward is certified as a Contact Lens Expert by Bausch & Lomb. He is an experienced lecturer on subjects such as contact lens fitting and management, as well as ocular disease, glaucoma, diabetes, and dry eye management. As an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, Dr. Ward is actively involved with the optometric community.
He is passionate about caring for his patients and is dedicated to providing the best vision and eye health care. He enjoys fitting “hard to fit” contact lens patients with scleral lenses, providing the “best vision and comfort ever” for many of his patients. He believes in providing his patients with the most technologically advanced care in “state-of-the-art” facilities with highly trained, compassionate and caring staff.
Dr. James Ward is married with four children. He serves the community through his Christian affiliations, and with the Lion’s Club. His honors include, Young Optometrist of the Year, Oklahoma 2000 and Lion of the Year, Okmulgee Lion’s Club in 2002.
